Description
A Rattataki born into wealth and prestige on Nar Shaddaa, Jhes Anai was raised in a world of luxury, persuasion, and political maneuvering. The son of famous entertainers, he was groomed for high society, learning the art of negotiation and influence from an early age. However, the Jedi saw something more in him—a talent not just for diplomacy but for wielding the Force through words rather than weapons.
Trained at Coruscant under Master Sairin Vos, Jhes mastered the delicate balance between Jedi discipline and the charisma of his upbringing. Eschewing the path of a warrior, he became a renowned diplomat, capable of ending conflicts with a single conversation. Whether facing warlords, politicians, or Sith emissaries, his sharp mind and unwavering composure made him a legend among Jedi negotiators.
Though he never sought power or recognition, Jhes Anai’s legacy endured—a Jedi whose victories were won not with a lightsaber, but with wisdom, patience, and the unshakable force of his words.
Biography
Early Life on Nar Shaddaa
Born on Nar Shaddaa to a pair of wealthy Rattataki entertainers, Jhes Anai’s upbringing was a stark contrast to the war-torn and violent lives of most of his kind. His parents, Auren and Vireya Anai, were well-known performers, their names gracing the grandest casinos, theaters, and luxury clubs on the smuggler's moon. Through charm, wit, and political savvy, they had elevated themselves to high society, mingling with crime lords, Republic senators, and aristocrats alike.
From a young age, Jhes was exposed to the glitz, deception, and power struggles of Nar Shaddaa’s elite. He was trained in public speaking, negotiation, and cultural diplomacy, skills his parents believed would make him an influential figure in the galaxy. Despite their love for him, they saw his future in entertainment and politics, not in the Jedi Order.
But fate had other plans.
Jhes was born Force-sensitive, an anomaly among Rattataki, and his potential did not go unnoticed. One evening, during an extravagant gala at his family’s estate, a Jedi Watchman sensed his presence in the Force. This Jedi, Master Kael Yuren, offered Jhes the chance to leave behind the world of luxury and deception and join the Jedi Order.
His parents refused.
But Jhes—already growing disillusioned with the excess and false smiles of Nar Shaddaa’s upper class—chose to go. At age six, he left his parents’ gilded halls behind and was taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
Training as a Jedi
At the Temple, Jhes stood out not because of his combat skills but because of his brilliance in diplomacy and persuasion. His experiences on Nar Shaddaa had given him a silver tongue, and he could read people with uncanny accuracy. He excelled in Jedi philosophy, political studies, and the intricacies of galactic law, quickly earning a reputation as one of the most charismatic and tactically minded initiates in his generation.
His combat training, however, was secondary to his diplomatic focus. Though he became proficient in Form II (Makashi)—a lightsaber style known for its precision and dueling tactics—he preferred to avoid conflict altogether. Instead, he mastered the Jedi Mind Trick, using his words and the Force to diffuse tensions and sway negotiations before battles even began.
Recognizing his unique talents, the Jedi Council assigned him to Master Sairin Vos, a Mirialan Jedi Consular known for her political expertise and work as a Republic ambassador. Under her guidance, Jhes traveled across the galaxy, participating in high-stakes negotiations, peace treaties, and Republic Senate hearings.
By the time he was twenty, Jhes had already helped broker peace between warring factions, defuse diplomatic crises, and prevent full-scale conflicts. His reputation as a Jedi who could resolve even the most impossible disputes grew, and when he was knighted, many expected him to one day join the Jedi High Council.
Jhes Anai and the Dac Academy
Instead of remaining on Coruscant, Jhes sought out a different path—one that would bring him closer to galactic neutrality and deeper learning. He joined the Jedi Academy on Dac, an institution known for training Jedi in diplomacy, knowledge, and non-combat resolution.
Dac Academy, located on Mon Cala, was a unique stronghold of the Jedi, focused on mediation, law, and philosophy rather than warfare. Jhes quickly became one of its most respected instructors, mentoring young Jedi in the art of negotiation, understanding different cultures, and finding non-violent solutions to conflict.
His work at the academy earned him the rank of Jedi Master, and he was often called upon to represent the Jedi Order in high-profile diplomatic missions. He mediated disputes between planetary governments, de-escalated tensions between the Republic and neutral systems, and even advised the Senate on matters of peacekeeping.
Jhes also advocated for a more open, less militarized Jedi Order, believing that the Jedi were straying too far from their original purpose. He often debated with war-hardened Jedi Masters, reminding them that the Order’s duty was not to fight, but to bring balance through wisdom.
Challenges and Conflicts
Though Jhes believed in peace, the galaxy did not always agree. The rise of the Eternal Empire and the conflicts that followed challenged everything he stood for. He often found himself caught between Republic generals demanding Jedi intervention and world leaders desperate for peace.
Despite his efforts, there were many battles he could not prevent. He negotiated peace treaties that were shattered within weeks, witnessed entire civilizations fall to war despite his efforts, and watched as political greed undermined the very diplomacy he championed.
It was during these dark times that he faced his greatest test.
During a mission to mediate a trade dispute on Serenno, Jhes was captured by a rogue Sith faction that sought to use him as a political hostage. They demanded Jedi secrets, Republic intelligence, and diplomatic leverage in exchange for his freedom.
For weeks, he was interrogated, tortured, and tempted with the promise of power—a life where his influence could shape the galaxy without Jedi restrictions. But Jhes never wavered.
Instead, he turned the tables.
Using his keen understanding of human nature, manipulation, and persuasion, he slowly turned his captors against each other, planting seeds of doubt and fear within their ranks. By the time a Republic strike team arrived, the Sith faction had already begun tearing itself apart from the inside.
Jhes walked free without ever drawing his lightsaber.
Final Years and Legacy
In his later years, Jhes became one of the more respected Jedi diplomats in the galaxy. He continued teaching at Dac Academy, training the next generation of Jedi peacekeepers, mediators, and consulars. His wisdom was sought by Jedi, politicians, and even former enemies who had come to respect his ability to see beyond war.
